Project: Me!

The time has come for me to start taking control of my life again and make some changes. I'm starting small. This week I'm committed to doing a 7-day green juice challenge that I saw over at Food Matters.  I won't be changing my eating habits at this time, apart from adding one green juice a day to my diet.  I hope to make that a new lifetime habit, but for now I'm going to see how I feel after seven days.  My husband bought me a new juicer which arrived the other day, and he picked up some veggies on his way home from work yesterday.  He's already put more work into this project than I have. Ha!

This juice is cabbage, lettuce, spinach, one Granny Smith apple, half a small lemon, and a bit of ginger.  I could easily drink a tall glass of this every morning.  (The cleanup is another thing, but I'm committed, I tell ya!)

And since this is a tarot journal, I figured I'd draw a card everyday as a sort of affirmation.  My Joie De Vivre deck is the one I love to use when I'm looking for encouragement or a little bit of kind self-talk.

  1. That juice combo sounds very good--and lower sugar--which is what I would be concerned about with other, fruitier juices. It's great getting all the extra, fresh nutrients of fresh veggie and fruit juices. We have a juicer but I'll be honest--the idea of cleaning it is a big turn off, but maybe if I got used to doing it. Good luck!

  2. I don't think the cleanup will be a big deal once it becomes routine. It only takes a few minutes. I was inspired to try juicing (finally) after watching this video: http://www.hungryforchange.tv/

It's available to watch on Netflix right now. Another one we just watched on Netflix is Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead: http://www.fatsickandnearlydead.com/ but as inspiring as that movie was, I do not see myself doing a 60-day juice fast ever. lol

  3. That juice does look amazing! Wish you could make enough for two and I'd come over for a glass ;) I love the idea of adding tarot affirmations to this project - lovely!

    2. :) If only Seattle weren't the other side of an ocean! Still, I'll raise a glass to you over here (though I'll fill it with water).
